Anita Wong

Somatic Psychotherapist, Therapist, Counsellor, Yoga Instructor, Thai Masseuse, and Wellness Coach

Anita is a multi-qualified therapist who brings together the wisdom of yoga, the science of psychotherapy, and the deep insight of lived experience to support each client’s unique path to healing. Her approach is gentle, grounded, and client-led, blending somatic psychotherapy, mindfulness, neuroscience, and traditional talk therapy to help you reconnect with your body, build emotional resilience, and move towards a life you love. Whether you’re navigating stress, trauma, chronic fatigue, or simply longing for change, Anita will meet you where you are with care, curiosity and deep respect. She's especially skilled at creating safe, welcoming spaces for neurodivergent clients, children and young people, and NDIS participants. Her sessions are practical, intuitive, and always tailored to you, with a focus on self-awareness, empowerment, and embodied wellbeing. Anita is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and committed to making integrative wellness support more accessible. She works with both plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants, and offers support via some private health funds.

Anita’s story

I grew up in Western Sydney, the firstborn child of immigrant parents. From an early age, I was taught to work hard, aim high, make the most of every opportunity, and achieve — and I did. I earned a scholarship for my Bachelor of Finance and International Studies, and later graduated with distinction from my Master of Psychotherapy and Counselling.

But it wasn’t until the fifth year of my business degree — sitting behind a desk, dreaming of something more and silently questioning everything I’d worked for — that I realised the life I was chasing didn’t feel like mine. I didn’t want to spend 80 hours a week chasing promotions I didn’t believe in and someone else’s definition of success. I wanted to feel alive.

That realisation took me down a different path — one shaped by crisis, growth, and eventually, deep healing. I explored yoga teacher training (yes, lured in by the dreamy social reels of yogis in Southeast Asia), taught workshops, co-facilitated a retreat, and volunteered for a Yoga for Endometriosis project. I wrote for a magazine, featured in the Sydney Morning Herald, and developed my own unique blend of Yin Yoga and Thai Massage. But even with all the mindfulness tools I’d gathered, something still felt incomplete.

Then came the pandemic and a turning inward. While studying a Diploma of Counselling, I began to explore traditional talk therapy and its power to support deeper inner work. It helped me feel safer in my body, clearer in my voice, and more connected to what I truly valued. And I realised that what I valued was something beyond the typical Asian-Australian cultural ‘scripts’ about achievement, resilience, and always being ‘the strong one’.

That journey helped me discover somatic psychotherapy. And I finally felt like I’d found the right fit, not just for my own growth, but for how I wanted to serve others.

Today, I combine body-based practices, counselling, and trauma-informed care to help people navigate life’s hardest moments with compassion and curiosity. I work with adults and children, including those who are neurodivergent or supported by the NDIS. I support clients through anxiety, transitions, trauma, identity exploration, physical injuries, and addiction — always in a way that’s personalised, empowering and grounded in care.

And I do it all with one intention: to help you come home to yourself.
